Damage was “minimal” after a house fire Thursday afternoon outside Lakemoor, but the home was left temporarily uninhabitable, fire officials said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched about 4:30 p.m. Thursday to the 600 block of Christine Drive in unincorporated Lakemoor for a report of a house on fire, according to a news release.

Responding crews arrived within six minutes and found a single-family home with smoke coming from the lower-level windows. Crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes.

Six pieces of apparatus and 17 firefighters from the fire district responded to the scene. The Wauconda and Nunda Rural fire districts assisted at the scene, and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

No injuries were reported, according to the release. A damage estimate was not available at the time of the release Thursday evening.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by investigators with the district.
