Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics raises money, awareness

Police agencies from across McHenry County, along with local Special Olympics athletes and their friends and families, took part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics June 5 at Veterans Acres Park in Crystal Lake.

The event is designed to raise funds and awareness on behalf of Special Olympics Illinois, according to a news release.

The following agencies were in attendance and participated: Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Crystal Lake Park District, Lake in the Hills, McHenry, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock.

Multiple local businesses provided food and water donations, including Jewel-Osco, Jimmy John’s and Meijer, all of Algonquin; Jersey Mike’s in Lake in the Hills; and Mariano’s in Crystal Lake.
