McHenry County Republican Women’s Club awards Johnsburg, McHenry students with scholarships

Scholarship committee ‘is delighted to recognize these exceptional three young ladies and is honored in assisting them in pursuing their education’

A Johnsburg High School graduate and two McHenry East High School graduates have received scholarships from the McHenry County Republican Women’s Club, the organization announced.

The Al Jourdan Memorial Scholarship, worth $1,000, was awarded to Allie Majercik of Johnsburg.

Majercik, a 2021 graduate of Johnsburg High School, is the daughter of Mark and Jill Majercik of Johnsburg. She will be attending Augustana College in the fall to study secondary education and biology, according to a news release.

“She has been involved in numerous volunteer activities within her school and community and has strong family values and a desire to make a difference,” the McHenry County Republican Women’s Club said in the release.

The Geri Davis Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Gabriela and Makayla Schober of McHenry, who each received a $500 scholarship.

Gabriela and Makayla Schober are the daughters of Bryan and Rebecca Schober of McHenry and are 2021 graduates of McHenry East High School. The sisters will be attending McHenry County College in the fall, where Gabriela Schober plans to major in elementary education and Makayla Schober intends to major in social work.

Gabriela and Makayla Schober are both McHenry High School Distinguished Warriors, a program that encourages students to “excel in the classroom, participate in extracurricular activities, make positive choices and commit to community service,” according to the release.

“The MCRWC Scholarship Committee is delighted to recognize these exceptional three young ladies and is honored in assisting them in pursuing their education,” the organization said.
