Entry sign for McHenry, Illinois

Nominations are being accepted for the Frank E. Low Award, the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce’s highest award to an individual for distinguished community service for the McHenry Area.

Nominations should be known by many people or groups to have made a verifiable contribution to the quality of life in the greater McHenry area, provided “inspiration that will have also sparked other people to become intensely involved in efforts to assist the community,” and went beyond providing funds to programs.

“The person will have been directly responsible for developing, or supporting programs that touch lives,” according to the criteria. “The Frank E. Low Award winner will reflect an abiding interest, and an overriding desire to have had a hand in serving humankind.”

The full criteria for the nominations can be found at the chamber’s website, www.mchenrychamber.com, or at its office, 1257 N. Green St. in McHenry.

A person nominated in previous years must be re-nominated this year to receive consideration by the judging panel, according to a news release.

Deadline for nominations is Jan. 31.
