Des Plaines woman sentenced to prison for 2018 DUI in Crystal Lake

Originally sentenced to probation, McHenry County prosecutors say she violated the terms of that probation

A woman was sentenced to prison Friday after prosecutors say she violated the probation sentence originally issued in connection with her 2018 drunken driving arrest.

Ann M. Olson, of Des Plaines, initially was sentenced on Jan. 25, 2019, to 24 months of probation for aggravated driving under the influence. The offense is a felony, typically punishable by three to seven years in prison.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office last week filed a petition seeking to revoke Olson’s sentence, claiming she failed to report to her probation officer and take part in treatment that was ordered as part of her sentence, according to a news release.

Olson admitted to those allegations on Friday and was re-sentenced to three years in prison.

The original DUI charge against Olson stems from an Oct. 29, 2018, traffic stop in Crystal Lake, records show. She previously was arrested in 2000 and 2015 in connection with similar allegations, according to charging documents.
