The Algonquin Police Department arrested one person for drunk driving over the winter holiday enforcement campaign.

Additional citations included 28 speeding tickets and five other traffic citations, according to a news release Tuesday.

The campaign, which ran Dec. 18 to Jan. 4, was funded using federal highway safety funds allocated by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The dollars were used to ramp up the village’s usual enforcement efforts, adding seven additional officers during this period.
