Lake in the Hills police arrest two during Independence Day mobilization

During 43 traffic stops, 41 tickets were also issued, Lake in the Hills Police Department says

The Lake in the Hills Police Department arrested two and issued 41 tickets over nearly three weeks as part of a period of stepped-up enforcement tied to the July 4 holiday, the agency said in a news release.

Both of the arrests were for driving while their license was suspended, according to the release. One of the drivers also was charged with driving with suspended registration and the other was cited for failing to wear a seat belt.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department logged 32.25 hours of additional patrols during the campaign, which ran June 17 through July 6, and during those patrols, conducted 43 traffic stops, according to the release.

Among the 41 tickets issued, 18 were for seat belt violations, 15 for speeding, six for driving an uninsured vehicle, one for failing to secure child in a seat belt and one for using an electronic communications device while driving.

The mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety dollars administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs.
