Three arrested, including two teenagers, in connection to Lake in the Hills home invasion last week

Theft, drug possession, burglary among charges faced by trio

McHenry County prosecutors are charging three males, including a 14-year-old and 17-year-old, with a slew of crimes including aggravated robbery and theft for their alleged roles in a Lake in the Hills home invasion last week, police said in a Monday news release.

Lake in the Hills police responded about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the zero to 100 block of Grant Avenue for a report of a home intrusion, according to the release. The alleged victim reported that multiple males forcibly entered the home through the front door and were armed.

The alleged victim was uninjured in the incident. One of the victims and alleged offenders were known to one another, according to the release.

Police were informed upon their arrival that the suspects fled in a dark sedan, and officers found a vehicle matching the reported description traveling south on Crystal Lake Road, according to the release.

The vehicle, a 2000 Honda Accord driven by 26-year-old Tavares L. Fowler, had three passengers in it, and officers also discovered property belonging to the home intrusion victim during a traffic stop. Additionally, police also found a BB gun in the car, which they said was used during the alleged crimes.

Fowler and the two teenagers were placed in custody without incident, according to the release. The 17-year-old was found in possession of a controlled substance and reportedly damaged a police department holding cell, according to the release.

Fowler is facing aggravated robbery and theft charges, while the 17-year-old is facing those charges, plus counts of home invasion, residential burglary, possession of a controlled substance and criminal defacement. The 14-year-old is facing home invasion, aggravated robbery, residential burglary and theft charges.

Fowler remained at the McHenry County Jail on a $10,000 bond as of Monday evening, according to the jail log. The two minors were transported to Kane County Juvenile Justice Center, according to the release.
