Lake in the Hills man accused of traveling to meet 15-year-old faces federal charge

Each charge carries possible prison term of 30 years

A federal grand jury on Tuesday indicted a 35-year-old Lake in the Hills man on charges alleging he traveled to meet a minor to engage in sexual conduct.

Kevin R. Duffy is charged with four federal counts of traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor who was 15 years old, according to a news release.

Duffy is accused of traveling from Illinois to Kentucky last year on June 25, July 3, Aug. 5, and Oct. 1 with the intent to engage in sexual conduct with the teenager, according to the release. Duffy has been in custody since his arrest on a criminal complaint on Nov. 18.

Each count of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor is punishable by as many as 30 years in prison and a fine of as much as $250,000.
