A 52-year-old man accused of delivering the heroin that later killed a Crystal Lake woman is due in court Tuesday.

Police on Monday arrested Lorachioe S. Sockwell, of the zero to 100 block of East Crystal Lake Avenue. He’s accused of delivering the combination of heroin and fentanyl that ultimately killed 40-year-old Julia Saban on Nov. 4, according to a Woodstock Police Department criminal complaint.

Sockwell is charged in a separate criminal case with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. According to the criminal complaint filed in that case, Sockwell was in possession of a hypodermic needle containing suspected drug residue on Nov. 12. He was released from the McHenry County Jail on Nov. 13 without posting cash bail, records show.

Sockwell remained at the jail Monday, however, in lieu of a $100,000 bond on the most recent charges.

If convicted of the most serious offense, drug-induced homicide, he could be sentenced to as many as 30 years in prison.

Sockwell had not yet hired or been appointed an attorney to represent him on the drug-induced homicide and delivery charges as of Monday evening.
