Police: Carpentersville man choked, beat woman

A 34-year-old Carpentersville man is facing criminal charges Thursday after police said he broke into his girlfriend’s Lake Zurich home and choked and beat her, officers said.

Terry Brennan

Terry Brennan, of the 100 block of Carpenter Boulevard, is charged with two counts of felony aggravated domestic battery, one felony count of harassment by telephone and two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery.

Lake Zurich Deputy Chief David Anderson said police were dispatched to a home on the 600 block of Surryse Road about 7 p.m. Tuesday. They spoke with Brennan’s girlfriend who said Brennan had broken into her home through the rear door and attacked her, Anderson said.

The woman told police she was able to escape to a neighbor’s home. Brennan fled the scene before police arrived, Anderson said.

The next day, Brennan returned to his girlfriend’s house, where he was taken into custody by police about 12:30 p.m., Anderson said.

Brennan remains in the Lake Zurich Police Department lockup but will be transferred to the Lake County jail after a judge sets his bail Thursday or Friday.
