Lower Weights

Jacobs' Dominic Ducato

Dominic Ducato, Jacobs, jr.

Ducato (106 pounds) finished the season with a 25-7 record and won regional and sectional titles. The Golden Eagles junior won his opening-round matchup at the Class 3A state tournament before falling in the second round.

Crystal Lake South's Josh Glover

Josh Glover, Crystal Lake South, sr.

Glover (113) dominated for much of the season and finished third at the Class 2A state tournament. The senior finished the season 30-1 and won regional and sectional titles.

Marian Central's Kaden Harman

Kaden Harman, Marian Central, jr.

Harman (113) battled back from an early loss in the Class 1A state tournament to finish fifth. The junior capped the year with a 37-12 record.

Richmond-Burton's Emmett Nelson

Emmett Nelson, Richmond-Burton, fr.

Nelson (113) impressed in his freshman season by making it all the way to the Class 1A state-title match before falling to Rockford Auburn’s Anthony Ruzic. Nelson finished the season 41-4 and won regional and sectional titles.

Marian Central's Vance Williams

Vance Williams, Marian Central, fr.

Williams (132) capped a strong freshman season by finishing fourth at the Class 1A state tournament. Williams won a regional title and ended the season with a 39-12 record.

Middle Weights

Harvard's Ivan Rosas

Ivan Rosas, Harvard, sr.

Rosas (145) battled back from a quarterfinal loss in the Class 1A state tournament to finish third. The senior ended his season with a 36-8 record and helped the Hornets to a fourth-place finish in the Class 1A Dual Team State Tournament.

Johnsburg's Logan Kirk

Logan Kirk, Johnsburg, sr.

Kirk (152) ended his high school career with a sixth-place finish at the Class 1A state tournament after he couldn’t compete in the final match because of injury. He finished with a 30-9 record and won a regional title.

Crystal Lake Central's Dillion Carlson

Dillon Carlson, Crystal Lake Central, sr.

Carlson (160) capped his high school career with a runner-up finish at the Class 2A state tournament. The senior ended his season with a 43-6 record and a regional title.

Chris Moore, McHenry, jr.

Moore (160) made quite the debut in his first season at McHenry, breaking the program’s career takedown and win records in one season. He finished with a 48-1 record, won regional and sectional titles and took second at the Class 3A state tournament.

Brody Hallin, McHenry, sr.

Hallin (170) regrouped from a first-round loss in the Class 3A state tournament to finish fourth. He ended the season with a 44-4 record and a sectional title.

Upper Weights

Crystal Lake South's Shane Moran

Shane Moran, Crystal Lake South, sr.

Moran (182), the Northwest Herald Wrestler of the Year, was the only area state tournament champion this season after capturing the Class 2A 182-pound title. The senior ended his season with a 36-4 record and earned regional and sectional titles.

Cary-Grove's Wade Abrams

Wade Abrams, Cary-Grove, sr.

Abrams (195) ended his season with a consolation quarterfinal finish at the Class 2A state tournament. He finished his senior year with a 24-3 record along with regional and sectional titles.

Richmond-Burton's Brock Wood

Brock Wood, Richmond-Burton, sr.

Wood (220) came back after missing most of the season with a thumb injury and finished fourth at the state tournament after he suffered a leg injury. He finished an 18-2 record during his senior year with regional and sectional titles.

Andy Burburijia, Crystal Lake South, so.

Burburijia (285) qualified for the Class 2A state tournament and won one match. He finished his sophomore year with a 32-10 record and won regional and sectional titles.

Girls

Burlington Central's Victoria Macias

Victoria Macias, Burlington Central, fr.

Macias (110) finished fourth at the first IHSA-sanctioned girls wrestling state tournament. She ended her season with a 23-6 record.

McHenry's Emma Garrett

Emma Garrett, McHenry, so.

Garrett (140) finished sixth at the state tournament to make history for the Warriors program. The sophomore ended her season with a 14-8 record.
