Burlington Central and Crystal Lake Central advanced Friday to the final day of the Class 2A Competitive Dance State Final at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington by finishing among the top 12 of a 30-team field.
Burlington Central led the local pack in seventh place with 85.34 points, while Crystal Lake Central survived with a score of 81.98 – only 0.04 points ahead of 13th-place Antioch.
Hampshire and Crystal Lake South did not score high enough to advance to Saturday, finishing 21st and 24th, respectively.
Class 3A Dance State Final: At Bloomington, Huntley earned a shot at a state title Saturday by finishing 10th in the largest class with 88.84 points.
Jacobs missed the cut with a 21st-place finish, scoring 82.54 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Burlington Central 48, Crystal Lake Central 31: at Crystal Lake, Taylor Charles went off for 15 points and 16 rebounds in the Rockets’ Fox Valley Conference win. Becca Carani added 14 points for BC (16-7, 10-1).
Prairie Ridge 46, Crystal Lake South 29: At Crystal Lake, the Wolves secured an FVC win at home over the Gators. Karsen Karlblom led Prairie Ridge with 12 points, while Kree Nunnally led all scorers with 14 points for South.
Jacobs 31, McHenry 30: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles narrowly outlasted the visiting Warriors in an FVC win.
Johnsburg 69, Harvard 23: At Johnsburg, Macy Madsen scored her 1,000th career point in a blowout win over the Hornets.
Madsen finished with a game-high 21 points, and Bella Saxelby scored 10.
Alden-Hebron 49, Mooseheart 15: At Mooseheart, the Giants coasted to a win on the road.
Thursday’s result
Woodstock North 55, Richmond-Burton 31: At Woodstock, Lacey Schaffter had a game-high 17 points for the Thunder in a Kishwaukee River Conference win against the Rockets. All seven seniors, including Schaffter, scored for North.
Kalei Jones tallied 11 points for the Thunder (14-7, 5-1 KRC), while Avery Crabill and Gracie Zankle had seven apiece.
R-B (3-17, 1-5) was led in scoring by Joy Holian (10 points), Lyndsay Regnier (seven) and Makenna Donohoe (six).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Marengo 65, Woodstock 58: At Marengo, the Indians got 20 points from Matthew Volkening in their KRC win over the Blue Streaks.
Exzavier Meyer added 14 and Preston Bailey scored 10 for Marengo. Caden Ogle led Woodstock with 21 and Spencer Cullum had 15.
Johnsburg 77, Harvard 23: At Johnsburg, Ian Boal led Johnsburg with 16 points and Joe Wolff added 11, while Myles Brincks was tops for Harvard with 11 points during their KRC matchup.
Jacobs 62, McHenry 31: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles doubled up the Warriors at home in an FVC victory.
Mooseheart 62, Alden-Hebron 46: At Hebron, the Giants fell at home in spite of a 16-point effort from Justin Gritmacker.
Thomas Webber added 10 points in the loss.
