Marengo rolls to KRC girls basketball victory at Woodstock

Bella Frohling led Marengo to a 46-16 Kishwaukee River Conference victory over Woodstock on Thursday in Woodstock.

Frohling led all scorers with 12 points, while the Marengo defense shut down the Blue Streaks from tip to buzzer.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jacobs 62, Crystal Lake Central 36: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles defeated the visiting Tigers in a Fox Valley Conference showdown.

GIRLS BOWLING

Rockford Lutheran 2,226, Johnsburg 2,213: At Park Lanes in Rockford, the Skyhawks lost by only 13 pins on the road.

Ana Bates led Johnsburg with a 526 series and a high game of 195. Lutheran’s Melanie Horn had the high series with a 579.

Woodstock 2,544, Jacobs 2,303: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, the Blue Streaks bounced back after a rough opening game to pick up a win.

Jacobs’ Breanna Perez gave the Golden Eagles an early lead with a 247 in Game 1, which led to a match-best 591 series. Woodstock rallied behind Norah Mungle, who delivered a team-high 552 series and a team-high game of 212 in game three.

WRESTLING

Prairie Ridge 55, Cary-Grove 22: At Cary, the Wolves earned a win in their final FVC dual of the season.

Eddie Ferree, Jake Lowitzki, Mikey Meade and Tyler Evans earned victories for Prairie Ridge.

BOYS SWIMMING

Cary-Grove 128, Jacobs 40: At Cary, the Trojans swam to a convincing FVC win behind a pair of individual wins from Ben Castro, who also was part of two winning relays.

Castro earned wins in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and as a member of the victorious 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams.
