Huntley boys basketball beats Jacobs in FVC action

Huntley pulled away in the second half to earn a 64-50 win over the Jacobs in Fox Valley Conference action Tuesday in Algonquin.

Nathan Ary and Adam Guazzo scored 13 points each to lead the Red Raiders (20-4, 9-2), Ben Ahmer added 12 points and Aiden Wieczorek scored 11.

McHenry 56, Prairie Ridge 55: At Crystal Lake, the Warriors came away with a road win, edging FVC rival Prairie Ridge by a point despite missing their head coach, assistant coach and all but seven players because of quarantine.

Zach Maness drilled a 19-footer from the corner with 1.9 seconds left to secure the victory. Mason Loucks had 21 points for the Wolves.

Marian Central 53, Belvidere 43: At Belvidere, Christian Betancur scored 27 points to lead the Hurricanes (10-15).

Crystal Lake South 68, Crystal Lake Central 30: At Crystal Lake, the Gators had 10 scorers in a complete-team victory over the crosstown Tigers in FVC play.

Isaiah Kirkeeng led South with 13 points in the win.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marengo 55, Richmond-Burton 33: At Richmond, Marengo notched a Kishwaukee River Conference win behind 20 points from Bella Frohling.

Addie Johnson scored 11 in the win, while Joy Holian led R-B with 10 points.

Woodstock 43, Harvard 15: At Harvard, the Blue Streaks coasted to a KRC win. Allie O’Brien led the Streaks with 22 points.

GIRLS BOWLING

Belvidere 2,261, Woodstock 2,097: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks took a nonconference loss to the Bucs.

Miranda Stumpff led Woodstock (8-4, 4-1) with a 495 series, just ahead of teammate Norah Mungle who came in at 493. Mia Abeyta notched the high game for the Streaks with a 185 in game two.

WRESTLING

Dundee-Crown 49, Jacobs 25: At Algonquin, the Chargers picked up a dual win on the road over the Golden Eagles.

Melani Pulido, Chris Gerardo, Vinny Velazquez, Patrick Sierzputowski, Matt Impastato, Jett Boerger, Dominick Poremba, Porter Leith and Juan Jasso all earned wins for D-C.
