Prairie Ridge boys basketball beats Grayslake Central at Hinkle Classic

James Muse scored 12 points to lead Prairie Ridge (4-6) past Grayslake Central, 41-36, in its Pool III game Thursday at the Jacobs’ Hinkle Holiday Classic in Algonquin.

Zach Lindquist hit a pair of 3s and scored eight points for the Wolves. Mason Loucks added seven, with five in the fourth quarter. Jackson Otto also scored seven, hitting 7 of 8 free throws.

Larkin 68, Crystal Lake South 59: At Algonquin, Damari Wheeler-Thomas scored 24 points to lead the Royals past the Gators and into the championship bracket. Larkin meets Loyola in semifinal at 6 p.m. Monday.

South (8-4) got 15 points each from Zach Peltz, Cooper LePage and Arnav Jain. Jain hit four 3s, and Peltz and LePage each had two.

Woodstock 66, Stillman Valley 49: At Marengo, Spencer Cullum scored 22 points to lead the Blue Streaks to an E.C. Nichols Tournament win.

Caden Ogle added 18 points and Javi Garay scored 16 to help the Streaks end 2021 on a high note.

Marengo 58, Rockford Christian 49: At Marengo, the host of the E.C. Nichols Tournament picked up a nice win over Rockford Christian.

Matt Volkening led the way with 13 points in the win, Collin Aubry scored 12, and Brock Adamson chipped in with 11 points.

Richmond-Burton 50, Harvard 19: At Marengo, the Rockets’ defense was out in full force in a one-sided win over the Hornets a the E.C. Nichols Tournament.

Connor Wallace led R-B with 11 points.

Harvest Christian 61, Crystal Lake Central 33: At Marengo, the Tigers ended the E.C. Nichols Tournament with a loss.

Jake Terlecki scored 14 points in the loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Burlington Central 61, Dundee-Crown 30: At Carpentersville, the Rockets came away with a one-sided road win over the Chargers behind a standout effort from Taylor Charles.

Charles had 14 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in the victory, Rylie DuVal led all scorers with 16 points and Becca Carani added 12 points in the win.
