Prairie Ridge boys basketball team cruises past Westlake Christian

The Prairie Ridge boys basketball team rolled to a Hoops for Healing Tournament win by doubling up Westlake Christian, 68-34, to start the season Monday in Woodstock.

Mason Loucks scored 14 points in the victory, Zach Lindquist had 12 and Kevin Fist added 11.

Hoffman Estates 66, Woodstock 40: At Woodstock, a solid game from Spencer Cullum wasn’t enough for the Blue Streaks in a Hoops for Healing Tournament loss.

Cullum scored 17 points for the Streaks, but no teammate had more than six in the loss.

Kaneland 72, Marian Central 64: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes suffered a season-opening loss to Kaneland at the Hoops for Healing Tournament.

Jake Giangrego put up 23 points in the loss, and Christian Bentancur scored 20.

Woodstock North 70, Harvard 30: At Woodstock, the Thunder beat the Hornets to start the season with a win at home in the Hoops for Healing Tournament.

Christian Soto scored 14 points to lead Woodstock North, and Cesar Ortiz added 11. Eleven players scored for the Thunder in the win.

Grayslake Central 33, Hampshire 32: At Crystal Lake, the Whip-Purs lost a tight game to the Rams in their season opener at the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament.

Adam Ugochukwu led the Whips with seven points, Kevin Dela Paz added six.

Wauconda 81, McHenry 65: At Richmond, McHenry opened the season with a Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Tournament loss to Wauconda.

Anthony Fowler scored 20 points in the loss, and Zach Maness added 12.

Geneva 73, Johnsburg 54: At Johnsburg, the Skyhawks opened the season and the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Tournament with a loss.

IMSA 46, Alden-Hebron 31: At Aurora, the Giants were unable to get enough going on offense to keep up with IMSA.

Thomas Webber was the Giants leading scorer with 15 points in the loss.

Hononegah 63, Crystal Lake Central 25: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers suffered a one-sided loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marengo 42, Woodstock 16: At Marengo, the Indians had a commanding win over the Blue Streaks.

Bella Frohling led the way with 21 points in the victory.

BOWLING

Huntley 3,065, Grant 2,778: At Roy’s Lanes, the Red Raiders cruised to a comfortable road win on the strength of a 705 series from Nick Zummo.

Zummo had a high game of 268 in the victory, while AJ Debello rolled a 692 series with a high game of 266.
