Johnsburg rallied back twice at home Monday to force overtime and eventually come away with a 3-2 victory over Woodstock North in penalty kicks.
North led, 1-0, at halftime and, 2-1, with five minutes remaining in regulation, but the Skyhawks were resilient both times. Payton Fiene scored the first goal on an assist from Armando Garcia and Kyle Patterson knotted things up unassisted in the final minutes.
After a scoreless overtime, the Skyhawks (5-7-1 overall, 3-3 KRC) came out on top in PKs by a 4-2 margin to secure the Kishwaukee River Conference win.
Marian Central 1, Jefferson 0: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes notched the lone goal of the match with just more than four minutes left in regulation to secure a victory at home.
Peyton Thomas scored on an assist from Jacob Bonnet, and Dawson Yegge made nine saves at keeper.
Richmond-Burton 3, Marengo 1: At Richmond, the Rockets (4-5-2, 1-4 KRC) struck three times in the first half and then coasted to victory over Marengo.
The R-B defense allowed only four shots on goal. Ethan Demers, Max Folbrick and Tristan Rockwell each scored for R-B.
Harvard 2, Woodstock 0: At Harvard, the Hornets secured a shutout win against the KRC rival Blue Streaks.
Hampshire 8, Belvidere North 0: At Hampshire, the rout was on for the Whip-Purs in a commanding win over Belvidere North.
Woodstock North 2, Mundelein 0: At Mundelein, the Thunder (12-2) extended their winning streak to 11 straight matches with a 25-18, 25-8 win over the Mustangs.
McHenry 192, Burlington Central 202: At Boone Creek, Madison Donovan and Aubree Lundin led the way for the Warriors with twin rounds of 45.
Maya Gusciora earned medalist honors for Central in spite of the loss, shooting a 41. Natalia Gusciora also game in with a 47.
Belvidere 192, Marengo 242: At Marengo Ridge, the Indians were unable to keep up with Belvidere in a 50-stroke loss.
Huntley 173, Dundee-Crown 206: At Bonnie Dundee, the Red Raiders came away with a strong win led by a medal-winning round of 39 from Aubrey Dingbaum.
Haley Szramek (42), Abby Goraj (44) and Victoria Hassels (48) also qualified as Huntley improved to 7-0.
Prairie Ridge 184, Crystal Lake Central 190: At Red Tail, the Wolves came out on top in a hotly-contested Fox Valley Conference showdown.
Prairie Ridge’s Elizabeth Tucker and CLC’s Addison Cleary shared medalist honors with dueling rounds of 41. Ella Olas (45), Brooke Benjamin (49) and Bri Baron (49) also qualified for the Wolves.
Johnsburg 189, Marengo 214: At Chapel Hill, the Skyhawks defended their home course with a comfortable KRC win.
Mike Link led the field with a 42 for Johnsburg, Nick Grons shot a 46, Ethan Stahl shot a 49, and Nick Thill rounded out the qualifiers with a 52.
Prairie Ridge 160, Cary-Grove 167: At Foxford, Danny Saville led the Wolves with a 2-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors.
Joe Pokonosky and Charlie Pettrone each shot 40, and Jacob Kim finished at 42 for Prairie Ridge. Maddux Tarasievich led the Trojans with a 39.
Woodstock 5, Marengo 2: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks earned their first KRC win of the season.
