High school football: Week 1 results; recaps for every game

Crystal Lake Central 32, Huntley 21: The Tigers put up 25 second-half points and running back Brent Blitek ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns to pull off the Fox Valley Conference win over the Red Raiders.

Marian Central 39, Johnsburg 25: Brendan Hernon threw for 323 yards and had five total touchdowns to lead the Hurricanes past the Skyhawks in their season opener. Wide receiver Christian Bentancur hauled in seven catches for 150 yards and two scores.

Prairie Ridge 41, McHenry 31: The Wolves ran past the Warriors to the tune of 418 rushing yards to open their FVC season with a victory, with three players topping 100 yards.

Jacobs 42, Crystal Lake South 38: Ben Ludlum’s three-yard touchdown run with 7.8 seconds left lifted the Golden Eagles to a come-from-behind win over the Gators in their FVC opener.

Burlington Central 28, Hampshire 25: Garvin Sarvis rushed for 121 yards on 31 carries as the Rockets held off the Whip-Purs in FVC action.

Wilmington 23, Marengo 0: The Indians couldn’t muster much offense in a season-opening loss to the Wildcats, who scored all 23 of their points after halftime.

Westosha Central (Wisc.) 34, Woodstock North 20: A fourth-quarter comeback fell short for the Thunder in the season-opening loss. Henry Goetz ran 30 times for 159 yards for North.

Richmond-Burton 69, Urban Prep-Bronzeville 0: The Rockets picked up their 21st consecutive win with a shutout against the Lions.

Rochelle 60, Woodstock 22: At Woodstock, the Hubs racked up eight rushing touchdowns in their nonconference victory over the Blue Streaks.

Lisle 26, Harvard 16: Harvard’s Eduardo Flores and Bailey Livdahl had rushing TDs in the second half, but the Lions’ lead was too great in the nonconference loss for the Hornets.

Orangeville 67, Alden-Hebron 14: The Giants fell to the Broncos in their opener, despite quarterback Ben Vole’s 136 passing yards and a touchdown.
