High school sports roundup for Wednesday, Aug. 18

Richmond-Burton’s Jeff Lehn fired a 1-under-par 35 to take low honors Wednesday in Round Lake Beach as the Rockets lost a close nonconference boys golf dual meet to Grayslake North, 175-179.

Lehn’s score came on the Renwood Golf Course’s back nine. Kenny Busch (46), Ryan Eskuri (47) and Colten Miller (51) rounded out the scoring for R-B (1-1).

Creighton Campbell led Grayslake North with a 40, and Brandon Baker had a 43.

McHenry 171, Johnsburg 229: At McHenry Country Club, Sam Huff shot a 3-over 38 to lead the Warriors past the Skyhawks in their nonconference dual.

Ethan Jensen (41), Brody Glauser (46) and Justin Link (46) were McHenry’s other scoring golfers.

Mike Link led the way with a 46 for the Skyhawks. Nick Grons added a 59, Peter Link shot 60 and Ethan Stahl had a 64.

Belvidere 179, Harvard 185: At Timber Pointe in Poplar Grove, Harvard’s Logan Garafol shot a 41 to tie for medalist honors in the Hornets’ nonconference loss to the Bucs.

Myles Brincks added a 43, Caden Scott had a 48 and Justin Lehman shot 53 for Harvard.

David Bertolasi tied Garafol at 41, Aiden Krup and Jake Larson each had 45s and Jordin King shot 48 for the Bucs.

GIRLS GOLF

McHenry 200, Harvard 220: At Boone Creek in Bull Valley, Madison Donovan and Aubree Lundin each shot 44s to lead the Warriors past the Hornets in their nonconference dual.

Harvard’s Julia Chupich was one stroke back at 45, and Aaralynn Schneider added a 49.

McHenry’s other two scoring golfers were Kiynn Axelson (54) and Shania Houston (58). Sophie Elliott (60) and Allie Scott (66) were Harvard’s other scorers.

Marian Central 190, Joliet Catholic Academy 218: At Boone Creek in Bull Valley, Ava Notaro’s 40 led the way for the Hurricanes in the East Suburban Catholic Conference win. Ella Notaro added a 45, Nina Notaro had a 48 and Jordyn Kratochvil had a 57.
