Brooke Kuffel pitched a six-inning no-hitter, Dana Skorich homered and doubled, and Crystal Lake South defeated visiting Prairie Ridge, 10-0, in Fox Valley Conference softball action Monday.
The Wisconsin-bound Kuffel struck out 10 and walked three. Molly Cook led a 15-hit attack, going 4 for 4 with an RBI, while Alexis Pupillo went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Besides Skorich, who drove in four runs, Evelyn Smith and Anna Wiggs (double) also had two hits for the Gators (10-4, 6-3). Kennedy Grippo had a double.
Prairie Ridge fell to 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the FVC.
Burlington Central 13, Cary-Grove 3: At Burlington, Allison Meyer pitched a five-inning two-hitter, striking out nine, walking one and not allowing an earned run in the FVC game.
Lauren Knief was 3 for 3 with a triple and five RBIs for Burlington Central (7-6, 6-4), and Anna Sanders went 3 for 4.
For Cary-Grove (1-11, 1-8), Gianna Arnieri finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
Jacobs 14, Crystal Lake Central 1: At Crystal Lake, the Golden Eagles scored six runs in the top of the first en route to a five-inning win in FVC action.
Delaney Garden pitched the first two innings (two hits, one walk, three strikeouts), and Abbey Nesnidal fired the last three (two hits, one run, eight strikeouts) for the visitors. Jacobs (10-4, 7-1)shot out to a 3-0 lead on a three-run home run by Ci Ci DiSilvio (2 for 4). The Golden Eagles ended their scoring on three-run homer by Nesnidal (4 for 4, four runs, four RBIs, double) in the fourth. Kaitlyn Wysong (1 for 2) scored three times for the Golden Eagles.
For Central (3-8, 2-6), Baylee Snell (1 for 2) had an RBI double in the fifth, scoring Giada Motto. Courtney Schober doubled as well.
Richmond-Burton 14, Woodstock 2: At Woodstock, the Rockets cruised in Kishwaukee River Conference action.
Woodstock got hits from Meghan Nixon, Abby Weber, CaroleAnn Goglin and Grace Karner.
Richmond-Burton 5, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, Connor Wallace pitched 6⅓ innings for the win, striking out seven, walking three and allowing eight hits and no earned runs in KRC action.
Kaden Neuman was 2 for 3 for the Rockets (13-2, 6-1), and Brock Wood had three sacrifices that lead to two RBIs.
Prairie Ridge 6, Dundee-Crown 1: At Carpentersville, Matt Porter struck out 12 and allowed just three hits and one walk in 5⅔ innings for the Wolves in their FVC win.
Prairie Ridge received doubles from Jack Tobin and Alex Milone (2 for 4).
Marengo 6, Woodstock 3: At Emricson Park in Woodstock, Christian Graves pitched the Indians to the KRC win, going 4⅔ innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out seven
Caden Monti, Gavin Loiselle, Clark Shulfer and Braden Barrette each collected one hit to lead the Blue Streaks.
Caden Vogt went 2 for 4 at the plate to lead Marengo.
Jacobs 11, McHenry 10: At Petersen Park in McHenry, Joey Fiorenza was 4 for 6 with a homer and three RBIs for the Golden Eagles in their FVC win.
Jack McMahon went 2 for 6 with a double and two RBIs, and Quinton Schwartz finished 2 for 5 with an RBI.
McHenry received two hits apiece from Eddie Synek (triple, three RBIs), Gavin Micklinghoff, Cooper Cohn and Trevor Rockweiler.
Huntley 7, Cary-Grove 0: At Cary, Eric Lin struck out 11 and allowed only two hits in four innings to lead the Red Raiders to the FVC win.
Ryan Kelly homered and knocked in two runs for Huntley, and Brayden Bakes was 2 for 4 with a double.
Hampshire 9, Crystal Lake South 7: At Crystal Lake, the Whip-Purs received 2-for-4 performances from Daniel Rodriguez (double, RBI), Matthew Karbowski (RBI) and Dominick Kooistra (RBI) in the FVC game.
For South, Dayton Murphy was 1 for 2 with two RBIs.
Crystal Lake Central 7, Antioch 0: At Antioch, the Tigers won every match in straight sets, improving to 9-4 with the nonconference win.
Huntley 6, Crystal Lake South 1: At Huntley, the Red Raiders won all four doubles matches in straight sets, losing only three games.
Huntley also won Nos. 2 and 3 singles in improving to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the FVC.
Marian Central 4, Johnsburg 1: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes picked up the nonconference win, receiving doubles wins from Terry Blades/Matt Gerraltz (No. 1), Jeremy Henkel/Patrick Kumm (No. 2) and Carlo Frangante/Quentin Blais (No. 3).
Johnsburg 3, Marengo 2: At Johnsburg, the Skyhawks held on for the KRC win.
Johnsburg (3-3, 3-2) had first-half goals from Aliyah Andersen (unassisted), Mackenzie McQuiston and Mollie Wetzel (assist from McQuiston).
Marengo scored in the 26th minute to pull within 3-1 by halftime. The Indians scored again 10 minutes into the second half.
Woodstock North 7, Harvard 1: At Woodstock, the Thunder rolled in KRC action as Addison Rishling scored twice.
Isabella D’Amico, Kylie Boal, Katelynn Ward, Gracie Zankle and Abigail Foster also scored for Woodstock North.
Harvard’s lone goal came from Lizeth Gonzalez, assisted by Wendy Cifuentes.
Marian Central 15, Grant 5: At Woodstock, Jack Whalon scored four goals and won 16-of-17 faceoffs for the Hurricanes.
Marian Central (2-2) also received three goals from Diego Ortiz and two apiece from RJ Theilson and Matt Grubenau. Markus Pomili made 12 saves.
