Winter weather advisory making for slippery Monday morning commute

Accumulating snow is impacting the Monday morning’s commute.

The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory in place until noon for McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, Whiteside, DeKalb, Kane, Cook, Will, Kendall, Grundy and La Salle counties.

Total snow accumulations may reach 2-4 inches for the northern half of areas under the advisory, with freezing drizzle mixing in.

Total snow accumulations may reach 1-3 inches for the southern half of areas under the advisory, with freezing drizzle mixing in.

Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution while out on the roads this morning.
