Group fitness classes and more offered at the Illinois Valley YMCA

On Jan. 25, LaSalle County moved to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, changing the rules and restrictions placed on health and fitness as well as indoor and outdoor recreation.

Illinois Valley YMCA has resumed group fitness classes, adhering to the Phase 4 guidelines of safe social distancing, class capacity and sanitization.

Group fitness classes include Ageless Yoga, Body Pump, Indoor Cycling, Yoga Flow, SilverSneakers Classic, SilverSneakers Circuit, SilverSneakers Splash and Fit Fun H2O have all resumed. Equipment is cleaned every hour and between classes.

The youth basketball program will run Feb. 13-March 6 for boys and girls age 5-10 years old. All participants are required to wear masks. Children will practice basic basketball fundamentals along with playing games.

Rimball is available for preschoolers age 3-4 years old who want to learn the basics of basketball. Rimball will take place Saturdays beginning Feb. 13 from 9-9:45 a.m.

Athletic Development Class for boys and girls age 10-17 will begin Feb. 12, and the Baseball and Softball Development Class will also begin Feb. 12 for ages 10-17.

Tumbling and Tae Kwon Do have also resumed. Please contact coach Jess to set up your tumbling times. Tae Kwon Do will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m.

The next session of swim lessons will take place Feb. 15-March 10 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:05 p.m. Contact the Aquatic Director at 815-223-7904 ext. 011 for more information.

Children 12 and under are allowed into the facility but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Child Watch remains closed, and no children under the age of 13 are allowed in the wellness center without a “blue card.” Please see the front desk to schedule training.

The IVYMCA continues to not accept guests or members from other Y’s. Masks must be work at all times in the facility, and the YMCA highly recommends mask use during fitness classes.
