As the state moves forward to reopen through the Restore Illinois five-placed plan, the Illinois Valley YMCA is pleased to resume activities that have been on hold since the spring shutdown.
Illinois Valley YMCA is fully re-open, with modifications, to ensure the health and safety of its members.
“The health and safety of our members is our top priority, and the YMCA is happy to be able to continue serving the community,” said Dave Potthoff, Illinois Valley YMCA CEO.
A face covering is required when arriving and leaving the YMCA facilities. The only exception to this is when you are exercising. The facility is open to children ages 12 and over.
Temperature checks are taken upon entering the facility, and capacity signs around the building indicate how many individuals are allowed in each area of the Y. Wipes are available at disinfection stations throughout the building, and the staff remains very active on cleaning and disinfecting areas.
Social distancing is required, and members are to maintain a 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
All machines must be disinfected and wiped down before and after each use, and members are asked to bring their own towels. The Y will not have a towel service at this time, and steam rooms are not open.
Group exercise classes are held with limited class participation. Classes include Ageless Yoga, Body Pump, Indoor Cycling, Yoga Flow, Silver Sneakers Circuit and Silver Sneaker Splash.
Additional pool times have also been added for members only. Lap swim will be available Monday through Friday from 7:00-8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. The therapy pool is also available Monday through Friday from 7-8:30 a.m., Noon to 1 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.
The YMCA is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
