Learn how you can safely enjoy the Illinois Valley YMCA

With colder weather and shorter days upon us, it’s time to revise your plans to stay active.

Movement is a great way to optimize your health, and the Illinois Valley YMCA continues to serve the community as the weather changes in November.

The Illinois Valley YMCA continues to remain open, with modifications, to ensure the health and safety of its members.

A face covering is required when arriving and leaving the YMCA facilities. The only exception to this is when you are exercising. The facility is open to children ages 12 and over.

Temperature checks are taken upon entering the facility, and capacity signs around the building indicate how many individuals are allowed in each area of the Y. Wipes are available at disinfection stations throughout the building, and the staff remains very active on cleaning and disinfecting areas.

All machines must be disinfected and wiped down before and after each use, and members are asked to bring their own towels.

Link Aquatic Center is open with one swimmer per lane unless from the same household. The Lap Pool and Therapy Pool are open Monday through Saturday. The Leisure Pool remains closed.

SilverSneakers is a fun way to move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily activities. SilverSneakers water exercise classes include Silver Splash on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Fun Fit H2O on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Water Walking resumed on Nov. 2, taking place Monday and Wednesday’s from 9:30-11 a.m.

Group exercise classes are free with your YMCA membership! Classes have limited participation to allow for small class sizes, and equipment is cleaned hourly and between classes.

The Illinois Valley Y Wellness Center features outstanding health and fitness facilities and equipment with over 150 different cardio and strength machines.
