Downtown Mendota will be in full Christmas mode Saturday.
Children will be able to visit Santa on Illinois Avenue from noon to 3 p.m., while their parents shop the holiday craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mendota Elks, 707 Indiana Ave.
There will be a free book giveaway for children who visit Santa. There also will be free hot chocolate and hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. provided by the Mendota Lions Club.
Horse drawn carriage rides will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a reindeer will visit with Santa from noon to 2 p.m.
The Boy Scouts will be selling holiday wreaths from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Children of all ages will be invited to see and explore police cars, fire trucks, tractors and more during a touch-a-truck event staged downtown.
De Colores will perform at 10:30 a.m.
Cows Coffee and Taco Guzman will be selling food and drink, as many other activities are planned, including cookie kits, ornament designing and Christmas limbo.
Visitors also can stop by the information booth to build a gingerbread man. To complete the gingerbread man, they will need to visit listed locations.
