IVCC cannabis production program hosts info session

Students can begin work on IVCC’s certificates in spring semester

Illinois Valley Community College’s in-demand cannabis production program will host an information session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, in Room CTC124 of the Peter Miller Community Technology Center.

Cannabis production is America’s fastest growing ag industry and there are 23 students enrolled in IVCC’s Introduction to Cannabis Production course this fall.

Students can begin work on either of IVCC’s certificates — Introduction to Cannabis Production or Advanced Cannabis Production – this spring semester starting Jan. 10.

All enrollees are eligible for a $1,000 IVCC Foundation scholarship made possible by NuEra. A total of 21 students received $1,000 NuEra awards this fall.

The two-semester introductory certificate focuses on industrial hemp and marijuana production. The 9-credit advanced certificate – offered for the first time – focuses on genetics and breeding, industrial hemp production and medicinal and recreational marijuana production.

To RSVP for the information session, contact IVCC ag instructor and co-program coordinator Caitlinn Hubbell at caitlinn_hubbell@ivcc.edu or 815-224-0495. Enroll for spring classes at 815-224-0447 or ivcc.edu.
