Public invited to attend meeting, give ideas or comments

Five candidates are vying for the opportunity to work at Spring Valley City Hall (seen here) as its next mayor.

Spring Valley officials are seeking the public’s input for a downtown revitalization grant.

The City Council will host a meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at City Hall, 215 N. Greenwood St.

The Rebuild Downtowns and Main Streets capital grant program is meant to support economic recovery in commercial/downtown areas that have experienced disinvestment, especially those hardest hit by COVID-19. The project must be in the commercial corridor/downtown area.

Examples of eligible projects include roads, parking and sidewalks, transit, pedestrian or bicycle infrastructure, broadband infrastructure, water/sewer infrastructure, public spaces like parks and plazas, including lighting and landscaping, as well as investments or modernization of structures in disrepair.
