Stage 212 issues casting call for Youth Showcase

Up to 40 performers needed for singing, dancing, skits, more

The Stage 212 Youth Showcase will host auditions for its production spotlighting talented youths in the Illinois Valley. Interested cast members can audition 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, and Friday, July 16, fat the theater, 700 First St., La Salle.

Director Caryn Brown will cast up to 40 children and teens ranging from those entering fourth through 12th grades in the fall of 2021. Roles are available in a variety of production numbers that feature singing, dancing, skits and more. Stage 212 auditions are open to all regardless of prior theatrical experience.

Auditions will be conducted on a sign-up basis only. To register, visit stage212.org, then click on the link to sign up for a time and fill out an audition form. The registration deadline is midnight Tuesday, July 13.

Those auditioning should come prepared with a 30-second music selection from a musical, movie musical or Disney movie, which will be sung a cappella or with their own accompaniment. Auditioners also can recite a monologue, play a musical instrument or perform a dance.

Masking and social distancing protocols will be observed during the audition process as a precaution agains the transmission of COVID-19. More information is available at stage212.org.

The Stage 212 Youth Showcase will be presented at 7 p.m. Sept. 16-18 with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sept. 19. An additional matinee performance may be added Sept. 18, pending ticket sales.
