Mendota woman taken to hospital after striking a deer in single-vehicle crash

A 21-year-old Mendota woman was taken to OSF St. Paul Medical Center following a single-vehicle crash Sunday at Route 251 and U.S. 52 in Troy Grove Township.

According to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Arielle Gross was northbound on Route 251 when a deer entered the roadway. Gross was unable to avoid striking the deer. After striking the deer her vehicle entered into the east side ditch and struck a culvert, deputies said.

Gross was taken to the Mendota hospital by Troy Grove EMS and no citations were issued.
