Spring Valley council approves fireworks at Summer Fest

Activities planned June 19 at Kirby Park

Spectators check out the 2018 Spring Valley Summerfest fireworks show. This year’s Summerfest fireworks display will be at dusk Saturday at Hall’s football stadium.

Spring Valley’s Summer Fest will once again conclude with a boom.

The Spring Valley City Council approved $10,000 worth of fireworks from RKM Fireworks during Tuesday’s meeting.

Two years ago, the Park Board collected roughly $3,500 from local businesses for the show, but board members agreed they didn’t want to ask them for money this summer coming out of the pandemic.

Summer Fest is scheduled noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at Kirby Park.

The festival will have a little bit for everyone.

The Steve Sharp Band is scheduled to perform 7 to 11 p.m. The beer garden will open at noon and there will be food vendors.

There will be a bags tournament at 1 p.m., water fights 1 to 3 p.m., a 50/50 raffle and free swimming at the Spring Valley pool.

There also will be a petting zoo, train rides for children and a bounce house, among other activities.
