Program will help households unable to pay rent

Emergency rental assistance program available

An emergency rental assistance program will launch in May.

The Illinois Rental Payment Program will support Illinois households unable to pay rent due to COVID-19 hardships. The program is through the Illinois Housing Development Authority.

Applications are eligible for up to 15 months of assistance.

Grant amounts will vary, and the maximum grant amount is $25,000 per tenant.

The coverage period is June 2020 through August 2021.

Cities and villages are encouraged to spread the word via utility bills and to your landlords and tenants.
