Jaclyn Cinotte, Nathan Potthoff named Oglesby Elks Teens of the Month

Hall, St. Bede students receive honor

The Oglesby Elks announced its November Teens of the Month are Jaclyn Cinotte and Nathan Potthoff.

Jaclyn, a senior at Hall High School, is the daughter of Lori Cinotte. She currently is 11th in her class. She has been on the high honor roll since her freshman year and the National Honor Society since her junior year.

She was secretary of Student Council as a senior and earned the Remote Learning Award as a junior.

Jaclyn was in basketball all four years and became a co-captain her senior year. She earned All-Tournament Team: Amboy Christmas Tournament her sophomore and senior years and Oregon Basketball Tournament junior year. She had the best free-throw percentage her freshman and sophomore years. As a junior, she made it to sectionals in the 3-point showdown. Her team won regionals her freshman and sophomore years. Jaclyn was Second Team All-Conference her sophomore and junior years. She was also chosen for the Bureau County Republican and NewsTribune teams for basketball. She was in volleyball and softball her freshman and sophomore years. She was co-captain for volleyball her freshman and sophomore years and in softball her freshman year. She was All-Conference Academic in basketball all four years and as a freshman and sophomore in volleyball and softball.

Jaclyn was in Spanish Club, Student Council and Science Club her junior and senior years. She was in Honorary Activities Club as a senior.

As a freshman, Jaclyn helped with the Hall Summer Basketball Camp. She helped with the Warriors Basketball Camp and fundraisers and the Food Pantry – Stump Out Hunger her freshman and sophomore years. She helped with donations to the food pantry her freshman, sophomore and junior years. Jaclyn volunteered by being a Winter Classic scorekeeper – Illinois Valley Warriors her sophomore year. As a sophomore and junior, she helped passing out Hotdogs for HTYBL and setting up the Colmone Classic. Jaclyn as a junior helped at the Food Pantry (Kirby Park Food Giveaway and Fill the Bus at HyVee), Science Fair Judging at JFK and shopping for presents Christmas giveaway at Ladd Grade School.

She likes to play basketball in her free time, to help out her grandparents and mother, running to help her stay in shape for sports and babysitting.

Nathan, a senior at St. Bede Academy, is the son of Lucy and Jack Potthoff. He is sixth in his class. He has been on the honor roll all four years.

He received the Sophomore Educational Development Award for his outstanding performance on the Pre-Act. Nathan has been on the WYSE team since his junior year. He team was fourth in state his junior year.

Nathan, as a senior, is the secretary of his class and Student Council. He attended the leadership summit at IVCC his sophomore year. Since his junior year, Nathan has been an ambassador to incoming freshman helping them get to know more about St. Bede.

He played tennis, basketball and golf all four years. He was co-captain his junior and senior years for basketball and golf and for tennis his senior year. Nathan was all-conference academic in golf his sophomore and junior years. In basketball, Nathan was awarded the Most Assists and Hustle Awards his junior year. He was also the basketball camp assistant as a sophomore. As a freshman in golf, Nathan was Second Team All-Conference and NewsTribune Boys Golf All-Area First Team. He also was awarded as the Best Putter his freshman year. He was the Bureau County Republican Golfer of the Year his sophomore year. In golf, Nathan was also NewsTribune Boys Golf All-Area First Team, First Team All-Conference, lowest average and sectional qualifier his sophomore and junior years. Nathan was most valuable player as a junior. He was Bureau County Republican First Team his freshman through junior years in golf.

He was in chorus and Venturing Club as a freshman and on Student Council since his freshman year. Nathan was a Eucharistic minister his senior year. He was also a student government representative his sophomore and junior years.

Nathan has volunteered at St. Thomas More fish and chicken fries. He helped cook, serve and clean up the events. Nathan has helped at Hall Township Food Pantry. He has helped with the Christmas toy drive distributions and help with preparing the Pantry for Christmas/Thanksgiving seasons. He has also helped with the St. Bede auction fundraiser and sports summer camps. Nathan assists elderly with yard work and snow removal. He earned the Christian Service Award his freshman year.

Nathan enjoys working on his family run golf course. During the summer, Nathan and his brothers, with their father’s expertise, will work together to keep the golf course in good condition. He also enjoys working on his golf game, playing every day and just enjoying the excitement that comes with it. Aside from his home life, Nathan likes to go swimming and play pool basketball. He also enjoys playing tennis in the summer.
