Peru police are reminding residents to secure their vehicles after a string of car burglaries that still are under investigation.

In a Monday news release, the department said it responded to a series of break-ins in the southwest side, chiefly west of Calhoun Street, and continued pursuing a person of interest spotted at 2 a.m. Monday in the 2800 block of Second Street. Evidence was seized for analysis.

Anyone with information about the break-ins or the subject is asked to call Peru police at 815-223-2151, Ext. 7 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 815-223-1432.
