2021 NewsTribune Girls Tennis All-Area Team

Olivia Alter and Maggie Davis, Princeton: Alter and Davis had more wins than any other doubles team in the area, finishing 20-7. The Tigers’ No. 1 duo won the La Salle-Peru and Sterling invitationals while placing second at the Coal City Quad and the Newman and Mendota invitationals.

Catherine Engels and Ava Lannen, La Salle-Peru: The Cavaliers’ No. 1 doubles team went 19-10 this season. The pair also excelled in tournaments, placing second at the Sycamore Doubles Invite and at the Pekin Invite. Engels and Lannen were runner-up at the Class 1A Ottawa Sectional to qualify for state, where they went 1-2.

Emmie Hachenberger and Izzy Pohar, La Salle-Peru: L-P’s No. 2 doubles duo won its bracket at the Sycamore Doubles Invite, placed second at the Pekin Invite and took third at the Interstate 8 Conference Tournament. The pair finished with a 9-13 record.

Carlie Miller, La Salle-Peru: The NewsTribune Girls Tennis Player of the Year racked up an area-best 24 wins. She also placed second at the L-P and Pekin invitationals and third at the Interstate 8 Conference Tournament. Miller took third at the Class 1A Ottawa Sectional to qualify for state, where she went 3-2 and finished in the top 24.

Alex Stremlau, Mendota: The Trojans’ No. 1 singles player finished second in the area in wins with a 23-8 record. Stremlau won the Mendota and Sterling invitationals and placed fourth at the La Salle-Peru Invitational.
