Seneca’s Brooklyn Giertz named Tri-County Conference Player of the Year

Players from Marquette, Putnam County, Seneca, Henry named all-conference

Seneca senior Brooklyn Giertz was unanimously chosen as the Tri-County Conference Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Senior teammate Madison Bromberek joined her on the first time, while Putnam County senior Sophia Harris, Marquette junior Josie Eager and Roanoke-Benson senior Maddie Monge were unanimous selections.

Putnam County senior Caitlyn Cioni, Seneca sophomore Kennedy Hartwig and Henry-Senachwine senior Keally Braman were second-team picks along with Midland junior Reghann Pyles and R-B freshman Kaylea Randall.

Third-team selections were Marquette sophomore Eva McCallum, Seneca junior Carly Greve, Putnam County freshman Ava Hatton, Henry junior Nakeita Kessling, Midland senior Jordan Smith and R-B freshman Jasmine Garman.

For the boys, Putnam County sophomore Jackson McDonald was unanimously selected to the All-Tri-County Conference team, while Marquette senior Lucas Hoffman also was a first-team pick.

Roanoke-Benson senior Luke Braman was named Player of the Year, Midland senior Will Meliska was a unanimous choice and R-B junior Joel Weber rounded out the first team.

Marquette senior Nick Melvin, Woodland senior Sam Bundy and Seneca senior Zach Pfiefer were second-team selections along with Roanoke-Benson senior James Early and Midland junior Ryan Riddell.

Honorable mention picks were Putnam County senior Luke Pederson, Marquette senior Luke Couch, Seneca senior Chase Hauch, Henry-Senachwine senior Jon Downey and Midland sophomore Ryan Bella.
