Roundup: L-P, St. Bede girls basketball teams earn conference wins

Brooklyn Ficek scored 16 points Monday to help the La Salle-Peru girls basketball team to a 48-40 victory over Rochelle in an Interstate Eight Conference game in La Salle.

Addison Duttlinger had 10 points for L-P (15-5, 6-2 I8), while Jenisis Greening added nine points.

St. Bede 53, Mendota 27

Ryann Stoudt scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds Monday as the Bruins won a Three Rivers Conference East Division game in Peru.

Leah Smudzinski and Grace Maschmann each added nine points for St. Bede (10-12, 6-2 TRC East), which led, 38-10, at halftime.

Natalie Bodmer led MHS with 10 points.

Putnam County 53, Midland 29

Ava Hatton poured in 25 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists Monday to lead the Panthers to a Tri-County Conference victory in Varna.

Gracie Ciucci had nine points, six assists and five steals for PC, while Erin Brooker contributed nine points.

Fieldcrest 58, Fisher 25

Ella Goodrich scored 16 points and hauled in nine rebounds Monday as the Knights rolled to a Heart of Illinois Conference victory in Fisher.

Kaitlin White had 14 points and seven steals for Fieldcrest (24-1, 9-1 HOIC), while Ashlyn May scored 11 points, and Carolyn Megow added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Bureau Valley 48, Newman 43

The Storm overcame an 11-point second half deficit to claim a Three Rivers Conference East Division victory Monday in Manlius.

Kate Salisbury scored 27 points to lead BV, while Jennifer Etheridge chipped in 12 points.

Earlville 31, Hinckley-Big Rock 28

Elizabeth Browder had 10 points, 11 rebounds and five steals Monday as the Red Raiders won a Little Ten Conference game in Earlville.

Alexis Olson added nine points, five rebounds and three steals for Earlville (12-7, 4-1 LTC).

Roanoke-Benson 31, Henry-Senachwine/Lowpoint-Washburn 25

The Mallards fell in Tri-County Conference play Monday in Henry.

Ryan Browder scored 16 points Monday as the Red Raiders picked up a nonconference victory in Mendota.

Griffin Cook had 12 points for Earlville (8-14), while Bryar Keller added 10 points.

Andres Moreno scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Little Giants fell in a Little Ten Conference game Monday in Aurora.

Midland 61, Henry-Senachwine 46

Troy Westerdahl scored 24 points Monday as the No. 8-seeded Mallards lost to the No. 1 Timberwolves in a Tri-County Conference Tournament quarterfinal in Granville.

Senior Isabella Weber bowled a 655 series Monday to lead the Cavaliers to an Interstate Eight Conference victory in Peru.

Christine Ricci added a 523 series for L-P.

St. Bede 2,779, Mendota 2,583

Veronica Martin rolled a 525 series Monday as the Bruins earned a Three Rivers Conference victory in Mendota.

Madelyn Torrance added a 520 series for St. Bede.

Lauren Holland led the Trojans with a 486 series, while Kaylee Barkman added a 477 series.

BOYS SWIMMING

Washington 116, La Salle-Peru/Ottawa 55

Joe Ovanic won the 100-yard butterfly and helped two relays to victory as the Cavaliers lost Monday in Washington.

Ovanic teamed with Owen Phillips, Dillon Malerk and Ryan Nelson to win the 200 medley relay and swam with Phillips, Nelson and Duncan Perry to win the 200 freestyle relay.

Princeton earned three dual wins Monday, beating Somonauk (59-5), North Boone (65-12) and Polo (45-27).

Payne Miller and Preston Arkles each recorded two pins for the Tigers, while Matthew Harris won by technical fall twice.

The Eagles pulled out a non-conference victory Monday.
