Earlville’s Elizabeth Browder breaks career scoring record

Earlville senior Elizabeth Browder scored 10 points Friday to become the program’s all-time leading scorer in a 58-30 loss to Newark in the third-place game of the Little Ten Conference Tournament in Serena.

Browder, who also had eight rebounds and two steals, now has 1,072 career points, surpassing then old mark of 1,065 set by 2008 graduate Stephanie Benninger.

“I know of Stephanie and that she was a great player, so to pass her on the scoring list means a lot to me,” Browder said. “I really didn’t think about what the record was or wanting to break it when I was a freshman or sophomore Then even with not playing that many games last season my coach and athletic director told me I had a pretty good chance. I put in a lot of work on my game, so seeing that pay off like it has is an awesome feeling.”

Alexis Olson added seven points and five rebounds for the Red Raiders (11-7).
