Roundup: L-P girls bowling wins season opener

Isabella Weber rolled a 629 series with a 214-high game Monday to lead the La Salle-Peru girls bowling team to a 3,085-2,119 victory over Ottawa in the season opener at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.

Maria Pawlak added a 596 series with a pair of 224 games.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bureau Valley 44, Mendota 38 (OT): Kyra Stoller had 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Storm outlasted the Trojans in overtime in a Three Rivers Conference East Division game Monday in Manlius.

Kate Salisbury scored 13 points for Bureau Valley, while Kate Stoller added eight points, five rebounds and four steals.

Reanna Brant scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Mendota, while Katie Jenner contributed 12 points.

Fieldcrest 60, Heyworth 20: Kaitlin White drained four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points Monday to lead the Knights to a victory in their Heart of Illinois Conference opener in Minonk.

Ashlyn May had 13 points, five steals and five assists for Fieldcrest (7-0), while Ella Goodrich added 10 points, seven steals and five assists.

Henry-Senachwine/Lowpoint-Washburn 42, Galva 31: The Mallards picked up a non-conference victory Monday in Henry.

Seneca 38, Putnam County 16: The Panthers lost their Tri-County Conference opener Monday in Seneca.

BOYS BOWLING

Mendota 3,299, Streator 3,251: Landon Bauer bowled a 672 series with a 265-high game Monday to help the Trojans to a victory at the Elks Lodge in Mendota.

Alex Hermosillo rolled a 585 series for Mendota, while Clay Buffington added a 571 series.

Yorkville 3,249, La Salle-Peru 2,987: Peyton Baker rolled a 594 series Monday as the Cavaliers fell in a nonconference match at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.

COED BOWLING

At Ladd: Moses Levine bowled a 572 series to lead the Hall boys to a 2,344-2,202 victory over Erie-Prophetstown at Ladd Lanes.

In the girls match, Sarah Beier rolled a 574 series as Hall lost 1,085-1,013. Each team had three bowlers.
