Lauren Martin had 23 digs and five aces Tuesday to lead the Mendota volleyball team to a 20-25, 25-17, 25-10 victory over Bureau Valley in a Three Rivers Conference East Division match in Manlius.
Marah Setchell had 10 kills and an ace for the Spikers, while Kya Delao had 19 assists, seven digs and an ace, and Mya Martin and Reanna Brant added seven kills each.
Rochelle def. L-P 22-25, 30-28, 25-15
Avery Urbanski had 12 assists, eight digs and three kills Tuesday as the Cavaliers dropped an Interstate Eight Conference match in Rochelle.
Taylor Martyn added 18 digs and four aces for L-P.
Fieldcrest def. Fisher 25-21, 25-14
The Knights earned a Heart of Illinois Conference victory Tuesday in Fisher.
Indian Creek def. Earlville 18-25, 27-25, 26-24
Emma Benson had 17 assists and four aces Tuesday as the Red Raiders fell in a Little Ten Conference match in Shabbona.
Brynn Guelde had seven kills for Earlville.
BOYS GOLF
At Port Byron
Rivers Jordan sank an 8-foot putt on his final hole to lift Hall to a third-place finsh at the Three Rivers Conference Tournament at Byron Hills Golf Course.
The Red Devils carded a 336 to tie St. Bede but took third place on the fifth score tiebreaker.
“One of our team goals going into the season was to get top three in the conference tournament, and we knew it would be tough since during the regular we lost some close matches to teams like Sherrard, Newman, Rockridge and Monmouth-Roseville,” Hall coach Mason Kimberley said.
Freshmen Landen Plym led Hall with an 80, tying for seventh place. His cousin, Grant Plym, tied for 11th (82) and Nick Arrate tied for 18th (85).
For St. Bede, Brendan Pillion tied Landen Plym for seventh at 80 while Jake Delaney was ninth at 81.
Ethan Hanaman shot an 82 to place 11th and lead Mendota (362) to seventh place.
Jaden Eggers placed 15th (83) for Princeton, which finished eighth (363) as team.
Bureau Valley finished ninth at 365.
Riverdale took the team championship at 305 with Sherrard (333) second. Riverdale senior James Moorhusen shot a 72 on his home course to take medalist honors.
At Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament
Blake Ramsey and Lucas Bernardi each carded an 87 on Tuesday to help Fieldcrest to a fifth-place finish at the Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament.
The Knights scored a 376. El Paso-Gridley won with a 317.
Nathan Buchanan had a 98 for the Knights, while Connor Reichman added a 104.
COED CROSS COUNTRY
At Mendota
Brock Loftus and Ian Eller placed first and second, respectively, on Tuesday to lead the Amboy co-op to a victory.
The Clippers notched 21 points to beat Mendota (46) and Princeton.
Loftus ran a 15:41 and Eller ran a 17:20.
Mendota’s Anthony Kelson placed third in 18:01, Christian Yepsen paced the Tigers by finishing 11th in 18:59, Putnam County’s Joey Twardowski was 14th in 19:06 and Hall’s Eric Martinez was 21st in 22:49.
In the girls race, Amboy’s Lauren Althuas won in 21:01, while Princeton’s Lexi Bohms was second in 21:14.
At Kewanee
Elijah House ran a 17:46 to place second individually and lead Bureau Valley to a win Tuesday.
The Storm notched 35 points to beat Kewanee (38) and Orion (47).
BV’s Benjamin Roth was fourth in 18:57, St. Bede’s Greyson Marincic placed 15th in 21:09
In the girls race, Jaelyn Weber ran a 23:43 to place fifth and help St. Bede to a second-place finish with 60 points.
Cambridge (32) won, while Bureau Valley (90) was fourth.
Amalie Graversgaard placed seventh in 24:08 to lead the Storm.
At Peru
Ryan Hartman ran a 16:52 on Tuesday to place second individually and help host La Salle-Peru to a third-place finish in an Interstate Eight quadrangular at Baker Lake.
Sycamore won with 23 points followed by Kaneland (55), L-P (68) and Ottawa (99).
In the girls race, the Cavaliers placed third behind Karina Moscosa, who placed fifth in 22:11.
Ottawa (29) won followed by Kaneland (48), L-P (65) and Sycamore (92).
GIRLS GOLF
La Salle-Peru 198, Seneca 216
Allie Thome carded a 47 on Tuesday to earn medalist honors and lead the Cavaliers to a non-conference victory at Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Course in La Salle.
Also scoring for L-P were Mady Zimmer (48), Grace Antle (51) and Avah Moriarty (52).
Princeton had two golfers compete with Ashten Wilson carding a 58 and Emma Kruse-Carter adding a 68.
At Spring Valley
St. Bede’s Brianne Briggs shot a 45 on Tuesday to earn medalist honors at Spring Creek Golf Course.
Aleanna Mendoza (46), Gianna Grivetti (49) and Ava Manicki (58) rounded out the scores for the Bruins (198), who were the only school with enough golfers for a team score.
For Bureau Valley, Callie Schoff had a 58, Cassidy Peterson carded a 59 and Layne Spreston added a 64.
GIRLS TENNIS
Pontiac 3, St. Bede 2
The Bruins won both singles matches but were swept in doubles in a loss Tuesday in La Salle.
Paige Kraml won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Krystal DeLatorre won 7-5, 6-7, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.
