Roundup: Princeton volleyball tops Hall

Katie Bates had 17 assists, 10 digs, four points, two aces and a pair of kills Monday to lead the Princeton volleyball team to a 25-10, 25-10 victory over Hall in a Three Rivers Conference East Division match in Spring Valley.

Abby Peterson recorded 13 points, two aces and nine digs for the Tigers (10-1, 5-0 TRC East), while Madison Richards added eight kills, three blocks, three points and an ace.

Henry-Senachwine def. LaMoille, 25-17, 25-21: The Mallards earned a nonconference win in LaMoille.

Yorkville def. La Salle-Peru, 25-9, 25-22: Avery Urbanski had six points, three assists and two kills as the Cavaliers fell in a nonconference match in La Salle.

Taylor Martyn had eight digs for L-P.

GIRLS GOLF

At Sandwich: Grace Antle shot a 48 to help La Salle-Peru to a victory in a nonconference triangular at Edgebrook Golf Club.

The Cavaliers scored a 215 to beat Earlville (221) and Sandwich (237).

Rounding out the scores for L-P were Allie Thome (55), Avah Moriarty (56) and Madyson Zimmer (56).

Avery Strohm led the Red Raiders with a 51 followed by Kaydence Harp (54), Ella Harp (57) and Emma Fasking (59).

BOYS SOCCER

Earlville 8, DePue-Hall 2: Griffin Cook scored three goals and had an assist to help the Red Raiders to a Little Ten Conference victory in DePue.

Diego Vazquez had two goals and a pair of assists for Earlville, while Bryar Keller added two goals and an assist.

Orion-Sherrard 3, Princeton 2: The Tigers had to play catch-up the whole night and came up short, falling in Three Rivers Conference play at Bryant Field. Carlos Benavidez scored on a penalty kick, and Asa Gartin followed with the second Tigers goal.

MEN’S SOCCER

IVCC 5, Malcolm X 4: Bryan Fuentes scored a pair of goals and had an assist to help the Eagles to a nonconference victory in La Salle.

Pumi Maphumulo had a goal and an assist for IVCC (6-2), while Bayron Cruz and Marc Philavanh each added a goal.

BOYS GOLF

Seneca 178, Henry-Senachwine 214: Ayden Malavolti shot a 49 as the Mallards fell in a Tri-County Conference match in Morris.

Also scoring for Henry were Mason Johnson (54), Nolan Dunshee (55) and Lance Kiesewetter (57).

GIRLS TENNIS

Coal City 3, Mendota 2: The Trojans won two of three doubles matches as they lost at home.

Mendota’s Jackie Cortez and Kailee Barkman won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while teammates Talya Schaegerman and Isabelle Escatel earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

MEN’S GOLF

At McNabb: Ian Roach shot a two-round score of 145 to tie for third individually and help IVCC to a third-place finish at its own IVCC Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday at Edgewood Golf Club.

Heartland won with a 577 followed by Danville Area (600) and IVCC (602).

Ryan Dulin tied for fifth with a 146 for the Eagles, while Ben Cyr had a 151 and Aydin Folker added a 160.
