The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp will recognize the La Salle Major League softball team that finished second in the state tournament at Thursday’s game at Veterans Park in Peru.
The La Salle All Stars will take the field with the Shrimp for the National Anthem and serve as bat girls during the game.
In addition, Thursday’s game against the Burlington Bees, which starts at 7:05 p.m., will be GermanFest.
On Friday, the Pistol Shrimp have a doubleheader against the Normal CornBelters with two seven-inning games beginning at 4:30 p.m. The theme is Beach Bash.
Mendota holding tennis camp
The Mendota High School tennis program is holding a camp for all high school students, including incoming freshmen, from 8-10 a.m. July 26 to July 30 at the high school tennis courts.

Ottawa golfers sweep IV High School Golf League
Ottawa’s Drake Kauffman and Zoe Harris won the boys and girls divisions, respectively, of the Illinois Valley High School Golf League on Tuesday at Edgewood Park Golf Club in McNabb.
Kauffman shot a 1-over-par 37, while Harris carded a 45.
Rounding out the top five for the boys are La Salle-Peru’s Carter Fenza (40), Mendota’s Ethan Hanaman (41), Hall’s Grant Plym (41) and St. Bede’s Jake Delaney (41) and Logan Potthoff (41).
Also finishing top five for the girls were Marquette’s Kaitlyn Magoonaugh (48), St. Bede’s Aleanna Mendoza (50), Ottawa’s Hannah Duggan (53) and St. Bede’s Gianna Grivetti (53).
