Briefs: Area baseball players earn all-state honors

Three area baseball players were named Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association All State for their play this spring.

La Salle-Peru junior pitcher Julius Sanchez was voted to the Class 3A team, Hall senior pitcher/shortstop Trez Rybarczyk earned a spot on the Class 2A squad and Putnam County sophomore shortstop Andrew Pyszka was named to the Class 1A team.

Sanchez went 3-2 for the Cavaliers with a 0.33 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 42 innings.

Rybarczyk hit .500 with 12 home runs, six doubles, 44 RBIs and 42 runs while going 7-0 on the mound with a 0.40 ERA with 73 strikeouts in 35 innings.

Pyszka hit .444 with 26 stolen bases, seven doubles, three triples, 32 runs and 15 RBIs.

L-P baseball players earn all-conference

La Salle-Peru baseball players Julius Sanchez, Jack Scheri, Aidan Van Duzer and Drake Weber were unanimously selected to the All-Interstate Eight Conference team.

Teammate Mason Lynch was an honorable mention selection.

Hole-in-one made at Oak Ridge

Cam Mignone made a hole-in-one Friday at Oak Ridge Golf Course in La Salle.

He aced the 152-yard eighth hole using a 9-iron.
