Hall Township Food Pantry to host drive-thru food drive Sept. 25

Event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon in Spring Valley

The Hall Township Food Pantry, along with the River Bend Food Bank, will offer a curbside mobile pantry from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The pantry, located at the corner of First and Terry streets in Spring Valley, will host the drive-thru event where families in need of groceries will have the opportunity to receive a trunk load of food.

Groceries will be placed in the back of an empty and clean trunk or truck bed. Due to safety reasons volunteers will not place boxes inside of the vehicles.

Those without a car may bring a cart or wagon to receive food, as a limited number of grocery carts are available but must be returned to the pantry before closing.

Any and all families in need, regardless of where they live, are invited to come to the event and no proof of income is required.

River Bend food Bank and Feeding America have also teamed up together to send a semi load filled with food for distribution.

In addition to the food pantry, the Illinois Department of Public Health will be hosting a vaccination clinic in the pantry conference room. This vaccination clinic is open to the public.
