Event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 30,000 square foot facility

An open house is scheduled 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, for the public to view the Peru Police Department’s new Public Safety Complex.

Chairman of the Police and Fire Committee and Alderman Aaron Buffo made the announcement during Monday’s City Council meeting as an opportunity for the public to see the facility.

“I hope everyone can make it,” Buffo said. “It’s a really nice facility. You will be able to take a tour and check it out and meet some of Peru’s finest while you’re at it. It should be a good time.”

The Peru Police Department has been slowly moving its operations from 1503 Fourth St. to the new location at 2650 N. Peoria St.

The new $16.4 million complex was substantially completed in about 11 months as the moving process has been progressing slowly over the last few months into the 30,000 square foot facility.

The complex comes equipped with a large community space for visitors to utilize, office spaces, training space, detention center, among other areas city officials are excited to get up and running.
