Pistol Shrimp extend winning streak to four

The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp won four games in a row for the first time this season with a 12-6 victory over the Burlington Bees on Wednesday in Burlington, Iowa.

The Shrimp record 17 hits, scored four runs each in the third and fifth innings, tacked on three runs in the eighth and added one more in the ninth.

Eleven Illinois Valley players scored a run or recorded an RBI in the win.

Will Worthington was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs, Andy Nelson went 2-for-5 and scored a pair of runs, Damen Castillo was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI and Sam Link was 3-for-5 with a run.

In the third, Justin Rios and Logan Delgado each hit RBI singles, while Worthington drove in a pair of runs with a single.

Colton Coca ripped an RBI double in the fifth, Worthington scored on a wild pitch and Castillo plated two runs with a single.

In the eighth, Dom Souto hit a two-run single and Link drove in Keshawn Ogans.

The Shrimp capped the scoring with an RBI single by Nelson in the ninth.

Ryan Eiermann improved to 8-0 on the season as he allowed three runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks in six innings.

Mitch Benson pitched the final two innings for the Shrimp, allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks.

The Pistol Shrimp (17-29) play the Bees at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Veterans Park in Peru.
