“We need to pray for our civic leaders, always. We need to be upstanding citizens, always. We need to pray for those that serve us, always, and we also need to be instruments of justice, peace and freedom.”

More than 70 community members gathered Saturday afternoon at Washington Square in Ottawa for a Rosary Rally in Honor of the Police.

The event was sponsored by America Needs Fatima and hosted by the Ottawa Catholic Parishes Morning Bible Study Group.

The rosary was led by the Rev. Father Gary Caster and featured prayer, songs and a poem by storyteller Bill Myers dedicated to men and women who are police.

“We need to pray for our civic leaders, always,” Caster said. “We need to be upstanding citizens, always. We need to pray for those that serve us, always, and we also need to be instruments of justice, peace and freedom.”

The rally in Ottawa is one of the thousands planned to take place across the country. Individuals of all ages gathered to honor members of the police.

Visitors set up lawn chairs to participate in the services that lasted about an hour.
