La Salle Public Library

The La Salle Public Library will be open to the public for in-person browsing effective immediately 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Individuals who are older than 2 years old and able to medically tolerate a face mask are required to cover their nose and mouth with the covering and maintain a 6-foot distance apart from others for social distancing.

Both entrances located on Marquette Street and Route 6/Third Street will be open, as patrons are welcome to browse the collection but are asked to limit visits to 10 or 15 minutes.

Computer access is available in Adult Services for up to a 30-minute window. Individuals working on an unemployment claim, homework assignment, tax return or job searching should advise the staff when checking in at the circulation desk.

Per state mitigations, the library will adhere to capacity limits. When the limits are reached, the doors will be locked briefly; if this occurs, please call 815-223-2341 for more information.

Patrons may check out materials, including up to three new adult fiction books and four DVDs. All library materials need to be returned in the outdoor book drops located at the Route 6/Third Street entrance.

In order to keep everyone safe, staff will be quarantining incoming library materials for three days before allowing them to recirculate.

Curbside service still is available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who wish to use curbside service may call or send a request to bookrequest@lasalle.lib.il.us.

The library also will continue to offer free access to e-books/digital resources, as well as full-text articles and genealogy research through Heritage Quest.

Based on the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, lounge chairs and study tables will remain unavailable, as well as in-person programming and the use of meeting rooms by non-library groups.

Live, free virtual programming will continue to be offered via Zoom. Visit the library’s website at lasalle.lib.il.us and/or Facebook page for a list of upcoming programs and registration instructions.
