Marquette Emphasizes Recognition and Giving Back During Catholic Schools Week 2021

Catholic Schools Week is a celebration of Catholic education, held in the final week of January each year. Like many other events in these times, CSW ’21 may feel a bit different, but its messages will remain the same.

While part of Catholic Schools Week typically involves Open Houses, special events and other activities, this year the focus will be shifted to emphasize the importance of recognizing those who help us every day, and in giving back to the community in which we live and serve.

The final schedule for Catholic Schools Week will be finalized soon, with ongoing safety considerations and protocol updates with regard to COVID-19.

“We are optimistic and excited about our return to in-person learning and are pleased with how our virtual learning went during the last portion of 2020. Our teachers went above and beyond, thinking outside the box to keep kids involved and engaged.” said Principal Brooke Rick.

One of the big initiatives of Catholic Schools Week will be about giving back.

As in-person learning is slated to resume in January, classes will write thank you cards and letters to frontline workers, including hospital staffs, local firefighters, police, and the local veterans’ home and nursing home. This endeavor is aimed at thanking those in our community and recognizing their daily sacrifices, while also spreading some additional goodwill and cheer.

“We try to teach the students about community and giving back during activities for the week,” Rick continued.

“We will also have some fun activities in school for students and teachers to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments during this challenging year.”
