Morris Hospital reaches single-day high in hospitalizations since last December

24 patients hospitalized from COVID-19 as of Tuesday

Morris Hospital said Monday on its Facebook page the 22 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 were the highest number it has had on a single day since December 2020.

That numbers rose to 24 hospitalized Tuesday.

Of the 24 patients hospitalized, 20 are not vaccinated. Three patients are in ICU and one is on a ventilator; none of the patients in ICU or on a ventilator are vaccinated, the hospital said.

“We urge everyone to help slow the spread in our community by wearing a mask in public settings and maintaining a physical distance,” the hospital said on its Facebook page. “And if you haven’t been vaccinated or haven’t gotten your booster yet, now is a great time.

Grundy County has 51% of its population fully vaccinated and La Salle County has 52%.

The Grundy County Health Department is offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until Christmas from 9 a.m. to noon at the Grundy County Administration Building, 1320 Union St., Morris.

The La Salle County Health Department has COVID -19 vaccine available at the health department on Etna Road in Ottawa by appointment only, Monday through Friday. The health department has Johnson and Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer available. Residents who still need to be vaccinated should call the health department at 815-433-3366 to make an appointment.
